Sponsored by the Anthony Wayne Area Arts Commission, The Art/Music Students of the Month program recognizes outstanding artists and musicians attending Anthony Wayne High School. With this program, the AWAA Commission is able to encourage and support these students in their artistic or music endeavors.
Each month from October to May, one visual art and one performing art student is selected by their art or music teachers to receive this highly distinguished honor. Chosen students receive a certificate, a gift card to a local business and are recognized at school art and music programs.
For the month of October, selected students who have received this honor are Lexie Middaugh for visual arts and Rachel Hoose for performing arts.
Senior Lexie Middaugh, a very capable artist, has participated in many Anthony Wayne School Art Shows and is also a part of the Marching Generals, Anthony Wayne’s marching band. Next year, Lexie plans to attend BGSU to obtain her bachelor’s degree in animation.
Rachel Hoose, also a senior, has taken part in the 2023 District I Honors Band and District I Solo and Ensemble, where she received 7 superior ratings over the last 4 years. Rachel, a very talented clarinet player, sits first chair in Anthony Wayne’s Symphonic Winds and performs Marching Generals. After high school, Rachel plans on attending college for biology, marine biology, or zoology with the intent to become a marine researcher.
Both Lexie and Rachel deserve the heartiest congratulations for this incredible achievement and their incredible talents!
