Family fun at Festival Marketplace

Looking for a fun place to bring the kids? On the corner of Holland Sylvania Rd. and Sylvania Ave. is the new Midway Festival Marketplace. Three businesses under one roof welcome families to play games and hang out in a safe atmosphere. “We wanted a family type atmosphere where you can bring the kids,” said Casey Wagner, co-owner of the building and the marketplace. Casey and her husband Bob decided to open the businesses after a few tenants left their building. “In this economy its hard to find tenants, so we thought maybe it’s the right time to start our own business,” Casey said. With Bob’s history in the produce business and Casey’s desire to operate a soft-serve ice cream shop, the two opened the marketplace in June.

Casey’s Frosty Boy is open year-round, serving everything from milkshakes to sundaes. Specialty sundaes change throughout the year, including the Buckeye Supreme, with hot fudge, peanut butter sauce, and a big buckeye. For kids of all ages, the Midwest Arcade is adjacent to Casey’s Frosty Boy. “The arcade is an alternative place for kids to hang out with friends that is safe and keeps them out of trouble.” Casey said. State-of-the art arcade games allow kids to have fun and mingle with friends. Farmer Dan’s is open July through October, selling beans, corn, tomatoes and other produce from local farmers. It will reopen in the spring to sell flowers and other crops.

Future plans for the marketplace include space for birthday parties. Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
