Parents all across the country changed careers overnight, becoming full-time educators to their children as the COVID-19 pandemic forced schools to close.

We asked our Toledo Parent community–both parents and teachers–how they would describe their educational philosophy in one sentence. From wise to witty, see their responses below:

Sarah Zadrazil: “To encourage active learning through play, lots of it!! But I like the idea of snack time, too!”

Cheryl Lehsten: “No knowledge is ever wasted. Learn everything you can about everything you can!”

Jen Grant: “Dear God, please bless me with patience (and coffee…lots of coffee).”

Patricia Cowan: “Repetition, repetition, repetition!”

Stephanie Buck: “If Johnny had 5 apples…”

Jessica Haney: “They won’t care about school until they know you care about them.”

Liz Wargo: “Play, more play, maybe a worksheet, and snacks.”

Jason Webber: “Hey, teacher! Leave those kids alone!” ~ Pink Floyd
