El Centro’s 2nd Annual Community Health Fair to Promote Wellness During Minority Health Month

A community event focused on health and access

Community members across Toledo are invited to attend El Centro’s 2nd Annual Community Health Fair, a free event focused on improving access to healthcare resources and promoting overall wellness. The event will take place on Tuesday, April 21, from 10am-3pm at the Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center (1225 Broadway St.).

Held during Minority Health Month, the fair is designed to bring together healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations and community partners to help residents learn more about their health and the services available to them in the Toledo area.

Health screenings and preventive care

One of the highlights of the event will be health screenings offered by local healthcare professionals. These screenings provide an opportunity for individuals to learn more about their health and identify potential concerns early. Preventive care and early detection are key steps toward maintaining long-term health.

Health professionals and community organizations will also provide information on important topics such as blood pressure management, diabetes awareness, nutrition, mental health and overall wellness. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions, receive guidance and gain a better understanding of how to maintain healthy lifestyles.

Community resources and local organizations

The health fair will feature resource tables from a variety of local organizations dedicated to supporting the well-being of Toledo residents. These organizations will share information about programs and services related to healthcare access, family support, social services and wellness initiatives.

Community partners will be available to connect attendees with programs that can assist with health coverage, preventive care, and other services that support healthier communities. The goal is to make it easier for individuals and families to learn about resources that may benefit them.

Giveaways and educational materials

In addition to screenings and information booths, attendees can also expect giveaways and educational materials throughout the event. These items are intended to help community members continue practicing healthy habits after the event ends. Health-related resources, wellness tools and informational brochures will be available while supplies last.

Supporting health equity during minority health month

By hosting the health fair during Minority Health Month, organizers hope to raise awareness about health disparities and the importance of equitable access to healthcare. Events like this help bring services directly into the community, making it easier for residents to access information and support in a welcoming environment.

The event is open to the public, and individuals and families are encouraged to stop by at any time during the day.

Opportunities for community partners

Organizations interested in participating in the event by hosting a table or providing resources are encouraged to get involved. Community groups, healthcare providers and nonprofits that want to share services with attendees can reach out to event organizer Belinda C.

Interested partners can contact [email protected] or call 419-241-1655 for more information about participation.
