Scholarships Available for Students Pursuing Careers in Environmental Science and Conservation

Friends of Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge is offering two $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are passionate about environmental protection and eager to make a difference in the field of conservation.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must plan to attend an accredited college or university and pursue a degree in environmental science, natural resources or a conservation-related field. Applicants must also reside in or attend school in Ottawa County or Lucas County, Ohio, and have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 in high school.

The scholarships can be used to cover a wide range of educational expenses, including tuition, fees, textbooks and necessary field equipment such as personal protective gear, tools, and instruments essential for students pursuing careers in conservation.

Students interested in applying for the scholarship must submit their applications by February 15. The application is available online at friendsofottawanwr.org/scholarship.html and can also be obtained in person at the Refuge Visitor Center located at 14000 W. State Route 2, Oak Harbor, OH 43449. Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 1.
