Fundraising is a frequent issue for most nonprofit organizations. Yet one Toledo-based group was able to use an online competition to gain 10,203 donations and raise $112,922. Hua Xiao, President of the Overseas Save Chinese Children Foundation (OSCCF), began the 30-day national online competition, 2009 America’s Giving Challenge, on October 7, 2009. Just one month later, she had to receive the most donations for her cause, making her organization the winner of the $25,000 prize. The money will be used to help OSCCF continue its mission of improving the lives of orphaned and impoverished children in China. For more info, visit www.osccf.org.
