Drive a Bus at Maumee City Schools

Maumee City Schools will host a “Drive A Bus” event on Saturday, February 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Maumee High School, located at 1147 Saco. The event invites individuals aged 20 and older to register for the chance to drive a school bus in the school’s parking lot, with instruction from an experienced Maumee driver.

Participants will get a hands-on experience behind the wheel of a bus, offering a unique opportunity to explore what it’s like to drive for the school district.

“I frequently hear the comment, ‘I would never be able to drive something that large,’ so we want to give people the chance to try out driving to see if they might want to drive a school bus for Maumee City Schools,” says Maumee’s Transportation Supervisor Randy Conaway in a press release. “We hope having this experience will take away the initial fear someone may have about operating a larger fully-automatic vehicle.”

Only pre-registered participants will be allowed to drive at the Maumee “Drive A Bus” event. With limited space available, those interested are encouraged to register promptly. A valid state driver’s license is required for participation. Registration is available online.
