Though spring is just around the corner, we’re not out of the woods yet. If you and your family are still spending lots of time indoors on chilly days, not wanting to brave the cold for outdoor fun, I have some suggestions for you. From TV shows to watch once the kids go to bed to what my own little toddler has been reading, my Favorite Things list below has some good resources.
Our Exceptional Stories column, in honor of Disability Awareness Month, has a roundup of inclusive stories from board books to YA novels. In other news related to local businesses, our Family Favorites voting begins on March 15, so make sure to weigh in on toledoparent.com. It’s such a fun and important process, acknowledging area businesses and nonprofits that we love.
Finally, our Childcare/Preschool Guide, Summer Camp Guide and a new Volunteer Guide are all excellent resources to prepare for the months ahead. You’ll also find other stories including a review of sushi and hibachi restaurant Tokyo Toledo, how to create a balanced diet for vegetarian kids and a profile of local dad and CEO, Rev. John Jones.
Is there something you’d like to see more of in future issues? Send me a message at toledoparenteditor@adamsstreetpublishing.com.

What I’ve been watching
Severance — This Apple TV series is a dystopian commentary on work that is a sci-fi/thriller/drama, and it is a wild ride. My husband and I loved the first season. What a cliffhanger!
What I’m excited about doing with Townes (my almost two-year-old son)
I signed Townes up for Musically Me! The Best of Sandra Boynton a music education class at the Toledo Ballet. Townes loves Boynton’s books (especially Snuggle Puppy), so I’m looking forward to seeing him explore his musical side with that theme. Check out toledosymphony.com to learn more about classes for little ones.

What I’ve been reading
I just finished up America for Beginners by Leah Franqui, a selection for the book club I attend at the Toledo Museum of Art. I highly recommend this story about an Indian woman who arranges a road trip tour of the United States to reclaim a lost connection with her son. Find it at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library.
