Foreign Languages for Young Children in the Toledo Area

Research has repeatedly shown that learning a foreign language at a young age has numerous benefits, with many classes being offered in the Toledo area. Kasumi Yamazaki, a visiting assistant professor of Japanese at the University of Toledo encourages parents to enroll their children in schools that offer foreign language(s). “For a global perspective, it can provide a foundation for intercultural competence that is needed in the 21st century,” she says. “For a learning perspective, young children have an advantage of acquiring native-like fluency of a target language if you start early.”
