Detecting fun

. August 2, 2012.

Curious kids can dig deep and learn the details of how real crimes are solved, as Owens Community College presents a Crime Scene Investigator Youth Camp for ages 13 to 17, August 7 through 9. Participants will learn the skills used by professional investigators to gather evidence of foul play, from fingerprints to hair to (fake) blood. They’ll learn the math and deductive skills necessary to read the story of a crime from a crime scene — and will be rewarded at the camp’s end when a SWAT team captures the “perpetrator.” The camp is held at the College’s Center for Emergency Preparedness, where real first-responders learn the tricks of the trade.
