The Autism Model School has received a $54,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education’s Straight A Fund to create a series of comic strips to supplement the school’s evidence-based reading curriculum. Students with autism often struggle more than their developing peers of the same age to understand what they read. The Comics4Comprehension project will reinforce learning by giving students a visual scene to bring to life the words on the page. The Autism Model School is a public community school for individuals with autism ages 5 to 22.
