Sylvania elementary students have reason to celebrate. The new, state-of-the-art Central Trail Elementary building opened on January 11 after over a year of construction. Tim Swartz, architect at the award-winning SSOE Group, designed the building with the environment in mind: it sports geothermal heating and uses natural lighting to save money while accentuating the structure's beauty. The original Central Elementary, located on bustling Central Avenue, was too small to accommodate its growing student body. The new, 72,557 square foot building boasts five classrooms per grade, and was built to accommodate another room per grade — plenty of room to grow.
