Audition for “Tosca” with the Toledo Opera

Boys and girls ages 9-14 with unchanged voices are encouraged to audition to sing in in the children’s chorus of “Tosca.” Auditions will be held on June 22 from 11am-3pm at Toledo Opera Offices, 425 Jefferson Ave., Suite 601.

The commitment for this role is August-October. If a child make it through auditions, they will be expected to attend rehearsals on Sundays from 4-4:45pm at the Toledo Opera Offices.

“Tosca” is the an opera that takes place is 1800 Rome in the middle of a war between Napoleon and the Austrian empire. Floria Tosca is a beloved opera singer who is willing to fight to protect those she loves, especially her lover, the painter Cavaradossi.

“Tosca” performances will be held on Oct. 18 and 20 at Valentine Theatre. The stage director for this production is Jeffrey Buchman (Toledo Opera’s Carmen, 2018 and La Bohéme, 2020). The show stars Lindsey Anderson (The Ballad of Baby Doe) as Tosca, Brendan Boyle (Ragtime) as Cavaradossi, and Corey Crider (Cavalleria Rusticana) as Scarpia. It is presented in Italian with English supertitles.
