Whether we’re in the car, watching TV or scrolling on our phones, music is almost always present. Music can play a huge role in a child’s life. The Toledo area is fortunate to have many local music schools and instructors. We have rounded up some awesome local music schools to help you find the perfect instructor.

Forte Music School

Forte Music School offers a variety of music lessons in voice, strings, piano, winds, drum, guitar, brass and even rock band lessons. With over 50 different instructors, you’re sure to find a great fit here. For younger musicians, the school offers a Music FunTime option where children from 18 months to 7 years old can learn music basics and become introduced to various instruments.

The University of Toledo – Community Music Program

The University of Toledo offers a Community Music Program which pairs interested kids and adults with UToledo music students offering private lessons. Lessons come in a set of 6 and cost only $15 per lesson ($90 for the six lessons). Visit their website with inquiries or to find an instructor.

All Star Music 

All Star Music has a lot to offer, including instrument repairs, rentals along with lessons for a variety of instruments. The team of instructors cover a large range of music lesson options including voice, guitar, piano, percussion, flute, trumpet, trombone, cello, violin, viola, banjo and ukulele.

Toledo Symphony School of Music

The Toledo Symphony School of Music offers both private and group lessons with instructors who are often Toledo Symphony musicians. The Toledo Symphony School of Music follows the Suzuki teaching approach which means kids as young as three years old can begin to select an instrument. The Suzuki approach also incorporates parent involvement, requiring parents to be involved in the lesson and to encourage practice at home.

School of Rock

School of Rock has a number of programs, for children of all ages. The offerings include Rock 101, where students learn classic rock songs, modified for their abilities;  a performance program, where students learn to perform for an audience; and even a songwriting class. What makes School of Rock in Perrysburg unique is that individual lessons are combined with group band practices, so students feel the true experience of being in a band.

Toledo Piano Teachers Association

The Toledo Piano Teachers Association offers a round-up of piano teachers in the Toledo area that are experts on the instrument along with being well trained instructors. These teachers also have access to various performance and competition events for students to participate in throughout the year.

Music Together of Perrysburg

For your youngest musicians, Music Together of Perrysburg is a great way to become introduced to music. Each class includes instrument play, singing, dancing, movement and some silliness. All adults and children participate in each activity, which is a great way to experience music with the younger people in your life. Each class is 45 minutes and sessions lasts ten weeks.

Along with the music schools listed above, there are also many independent music teachers offering lessons throughout the area.
