The 19th Annual Crafting More Wishes for Make-A-Wish event raises money for the program through holiday shopping. Each year, there are over 100 crafters and vendors selling their goods. This year, Crafting More Wishes will take place on Nov. 23 from 9am-3:30pm
This officially sanctioned Make-A-Wish OKI (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana) event will be held at the Lucas County Rec Center, Building 1. Like every year, the goal is to raise at least $10,000 to help a local child.
This is a free event with free parking. All money raises will go directly to Make-A-Wish. Money is raised through vendor booth fees and raffle prizes. For the raffle, winners are chosen near the end of the event, but you do not need to be present to win. Marco’s pizza certificates, gift cards for bowling at Forrest View Lanes, a bottle of Blanton’s bourbon and freshly baked bread for a year at Country Grains are just a few of the exciting prizes the raffle has to offer.
At the event, families will also have the opportunity to take a picture with Santa against a backdrop. There will also be three food trucks to serve hungry event-goers!
Last year, the proceeds to this event went to Rowan, a child who had a kidney transplant and needed additional treatment. The year before that, the money went towards a young lady who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer on her 15th birthday. The child that this year’s proceeds will go towards has not yet been announced.
