Lucas County’s newest park, Howard Marsh Metropark, opened at the end of April. Previously a working farm, the park property was purchased by the Metroparks with two partners, The Ohio Division of Wildlife and the Clean Ohio Fund, in 2008 for $6 million.

A Toledoan was named as an Ohio semifinalist for the 2018 Ohio National Geographic State Bee. Sarah Boellner, 8th grader at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, was one of only 100 Ohio fourth through eighth graders chosen by the National Geographic Society to compete in their annual spelling bee.
