The Knapp family
Parents: Matthew and Jennifer
Child: Evan, 23 months
The itinerary: We would start our day with Matt making his awesome homemade pancakes! Then, we would love to go to the Toledo Zoo, ride the train and see the animals, especially the penguins and polar bears. Then out to lunch at Fallen Timbers or Levis Commons or make a nice picnic lunch to take to Wildwood Metropark where we can play on the swings. We love the Metropark because of the historic manor house, the pretty scenery and the beautiful deer. Having time to run, laugh, and play is the best way to spend time with our sweet little boy. We’d then take Evan to Kindermusic class at Miss Barb’s Music Studio. Being with each other would be the best part of our day in Toledo. For dinner, we like The Grape Leaf Diner restaurant! They have amazing hummus and pita chips. We would go to Jan’s after dinner around 7:30 or so when the sun is setting. Jan's soft serve ice cream is fantastic. We love the twist cones and the milkshakes. After that, we would go home, read books, and play outside swimming or jumping on the trampoline and finish the night with lots more hugs, snuggles and kisses!
The Ohnezeit family
Parents: Max and Kelly
Children: London, 7, Mia, 4, and Cash, 19 months
The itinerary: The perfect day for us would begin at Scrambler Marie's. We love Cafe Marie’s for the great service and great food and an atmosphere that is pro-children. Undoubtedly after breakfast, London or Mia will start the "bounce house" chants and we will be on our way to Sylvania Playland. The kids love Sylvania Playland and for us there is the largest vat of disinfectant that I have ever seen to keep the kids clean. Maybe we spoil our children but usually following the bounce house we make a quick stop at Koala Berry. Post-Koala Berry we could continue our tour of Toledo and head downtown. What better way to enjoy a great afternoon with your family than heading to Fifth Third Field! Toledo is fortunate to have such a great venue. Off to Real Seafood Company we go. I can honestly say we have never had a bad meal at the Real Seafood Company. Our dream day would finish like most do, watching the kids play and ride their bikes in our driveway. Toledo is a great city and I am fortunate to have a wonderful family to enjoy it with!
The Schutt family
Parents: Norm and Jackie
Child: Kasey, 9
The itinerary: Our perfect family day would start out at Sylvania Diner, having coffee and a nice breakfast. We would then head to Secor Park to take a walk and play with Kasey on the playground for a while. For lunch, we will head to Applebee’s to have lunch. With it being a nice sunny day, we will go to Sportway of Toledo to play putt putt, do the go-karts and watch Kasey do the batting cages. We love to go to Sportway of Toledo on Angola because it offers everything we love to do as a family. Then, for dinner we’ll go to Buffalo Wild Wings for some wings and fun. Cinco de Mayo on Central is also one of our favorite places to eat besides Buffalo Wild Wings and Applebee’s. We can sit outside on the patio and enjoy our meal and drinks in the sun with great customer service and atmosphere. To keep our day active, we will go to Southwyck Lanes for some family fun bowling that we love to do together! Then, to end our perfect family day, we’ll go to Mr. Freeze for some yummy ice cream.
The Vansickle family
Parents: Joe and Amanda
Children: Isaiah, 5, Isabella, 3, and Irelynn, 2
The itinerary: We love being with family. Our first stop would be Tim Horton’s for coffee for dad, an Iced Capp for mom and to sugar up the kids with Timbits and orange juice! I think the Toledo Zoo would be the next stop on our agenda. We would eat our lunch there, which mommy always packs! We would ride the train and play at the park at the zoo. For dinner, I’ll choose Ideal Hot Dog. It’s a family favorite. They have the best chili mac and hot dogs and everyone eats without complaining. Win-win! I don’t have to cook! We spend lots of time outside with the kids, letting them run and play in our neighborhood, watching wildlife and feeding ducks near the ponds. For dessert? If we don’t have sleeping kiddos (and hubby for that matter) – it’s hard work making memories – perhaps a Netty’s run – they do have the best dipped cones! The end to our perfect day in Toledo would be full of family, friends, activity and togetherness. We would invite family and friends over for a fire and to roast marshmallows.
