The Toledo Early College High School senior receives a $1,500 scholarship

Buckeye CableSystem is helping an area high school senior attend college next year. Gabriella Olivo has received a $1,500 Buckeye CableSystem/Telemundo Scholarship.

This scholarship provides an annual, one-time scholarship to the accredited post-secondary institution chosen by a  graduating high school student of Hispanic heritage that resides in Buckeye CableSystem’s Toledo service area.

Olivo will graduate from Toledo Early College High School in May, and will attend The Ohio State University in the fall to  pursue a nursing degree.

During High School, Olivo was active in the Garden Club, Book Club, Drama Club, National Honor Society and served as Class Treasurer. She volunteered at church committees and service projects, including the Calvary Church Worship Team and Calvary Student Ministries.

Applicants are required to have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and submit an essay to the theme “I’m proud to be a Latino in Ohio.”   

The Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. is a public charitable organization created by citizens of Toledo to help the quality of life for individuals and families.
