Sylvania Community Services is a social service agency which has provided the local community with quality child care for over 25 years. In August, they found a new home— the Woodrow Child Care Center at 5900 Woodrow in Sylvania.
According to Executive Director Claire Proctor, the new location has been completely renovated, making it safer, more convenient, and more kid-friendly than the previous location in the Burnham building. “Everything is on one level,” said Proctor, emphasizing the convenient drop off and pick up for parents as well. The children have a large shaded yard with refurbished playground equipment, and a garden is planned for the future.
The Woodrow Child Care Center is open 6:30a.m.-6:30p.m., boasting the Pay-As-You-Stay feature. “Our program is unique in that we bill our parents after the fact,” Proctor said. Parents only pay for the time their children actually attend the center. The school can accommodate 44 children ages 3-5, and offers before and after school care with busing between the preschool and local elementary schools for half-day kindergartners.
Convenient for parents, the center is also open during school breaks, and offers summer camps for children up to the 6th grade.
