No one ever said parenting was easy. As a matter of fact, more often than not, we hear ‘Parenting is the toughest job you’ll ever have.’ As a parent or caregiver you can never be prepared for the day you are faced struggling with an adolescent in crisis due to drugs, behavioral issues and more.
A Place For Parents, previously called Parents Helping Parents, is an irreplaceable non-profit agency that has been helping parents and families through advocacy efforts, support groups, and workshops for 29 years. Families in crisis can find the support and encouragement from others who have walked the tumultuous road they are currently walking with their child. “The most important vocation that we have, I believe, is being a parent,” said A Place For Parents’ new executive director, Deacon Dzierzawski.
According to Dzierzawski, the organization is evolving to include support not only for those with children involved in the justice system, but for ALL families in need. Their main goals are to continue providing assistance to parents through various means such as offering resources and support groups, being an advocate for children and parents, and providing education and training for professionals that work with parents.
A Place For Parents has recently relocated to 4334 Secor Rd., Suit 143 in Toledo, and can be reached at 419-343-2849 or www.parentshelpingparents.net
