For the eighth consecutive year, Buckeye Broadband is partnering with Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) and Friends of Lucas County Children Services to host the Backpack Boosters Drive-Thru Drop-Off. The annual event aims to collect new backpacks and school supplies for children served by LCCS.
The drive will take place Tuesday, July 14, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot of Kroger at the corner of Monroe Street and Secor Road.
The goal is to fill 900 backpacks with school essentials before the start of the academic year. The donation-driven campaign helps ensure students have the tools they need to have the best possible start to the school year.
Community members are encouraged to donate new backpacks and school supplies. Financial contributions will also be accepted during the event to help purchase additional supplies.
The Backpack Boosters campaign is funded entirely through donations and sponsorships, costing neither LCCS nor taxpayers any money. This year’s sponsors include Buckeye Broadband, Kroger, Roosters, Teamsters Local #20, Unison Health, and PNC Bank.
Residents who are unable to attend the drive-thru event can still support the effort by dropping off new school supplies and backpacks at more than a dozen collection sites through Friday, July 17.
