October is National Down Syndrome Awareness month. To celebrate, the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo (DSAGT) is holding its annual Buddy Walk. Walkers take a one mile trek to recognize the numerous abilities, accomplishments and successes of people with Down syndrome. The National Buddy Walk® Program has been running annually since 1995. The goals of the program are to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. Participation in the one-mile Buddy Walk is open to anyone regardless of ability or training. Last year alone, Buddy Walk events across the country raised more than $11 million to benefit national education and local programs and services.
The fun-filled day will have a DJ and other entertainment. The event will also include raffles and team awards, such as highest fundraising team, in which participants will have an opportunity to win cash and other prizes.
