Finding a way
When it comes to learning more about ways to help your child, the possibilities are endless. The Autism Society of Northwest Ohio will offer seminars for parents with children on the autism spectrum on Wednesday, November 2 (6:30pm), and Wedneday, November 9 (6:30-9pm), or Thursday, November 10 (9:30am-noon). The second begins with Toilet Training Your Child with Autism, presented by Kim Renner, MA, BCBA, LLP at the Autism Society (4334 Secor Rd.). The workshop will address strategies and provide tips for those who may have had difficultly with toilet training. The ninth and tenth follow with Exceeding Expectations in the Toledo Hospital Education Center Auditorium in Jobst Tower (2109 Hughes Dr.). Joe Steffy is the 25-year-old owner of Poppin’ Joe’s Kettle Korn. Steffy has autism, Down Syndrome and is non-verbal. Along with his parents and coworkers, who have made working independently a reality for their son, he will speak using his AAC device Please note: Steffy’s speech on the tenth will take place at the Toledo Hospital Croxton Memorial Auditorium (2142 N.
