Toledo School for the Arts Renovations will Bring New Rental Spaces for the Public

Renovations to the former Poster Gallery at Toledo School for the Arts (TSA) will include a new dance studio, changing rooms, bathrooms, and lobby.

The Black Box Performance Space will be accessible to the public after completing the required paperwork (a rental application, rental agreement, and rules of use for TSA space). Outside groups interested in renting TSA spaces such as the Black Box, Community Portal, Flying Pig Café, large rehearsal spaces, and the recording studios will need to pay a specific renting fee set by TSA.

The new spaces that are being developed through this renovation effort will enable TSA to make use of the building after hours and allowing the community to take advantage of resources the school has to offer. The new Community Portal will be especially pertinent in the latter goal; according to the TSA website, this renovated space will increase programming and internships for students, providing them with real world experience in skills such as operating a publishing company, gallery, retail, booking agency, maker space, recording studios, and performance and dance studios.

To ensure the positive impact of this range of resources on students is maximized, renovation efforts will also include the annex and expanded stairwell, which will allow the school to double its capacity. With a plan to increase student enrollment by 20 percent, the increased space will also bring new job opportunities in the form of permanent instructional, administrative, and support positions to serve more students.
