This year the Department of Parks and Youth services is hiring teens who are 16 (must be 15 years at the time of classes) and older, love the water and are looking for jobs this summer.
The Department of Parks and Youth Services are looking to hire eager lifeguards, assistants, and managers to help keep all swimmers safe and make sure everyone enjoys their time at the Toledo public pools. All workers will be compensated with competitive pay. Hourly rates range from $12 to $18.
- Pool Managers: $18
- Lifeguards: $16
- Cashiers: $15
- Recreation Facility Assistants: $12
For any of these positions, prior experience is unnecessary, but applicants should be competent swimmers. All applicants also must pass a lifeguard course which would lead to certification. This course is provided and paid for by the department. For more information or assistance in the application process please visit toledo.oh.gov/youth-jobs.
Apply for your lifeguard certification quickly, since not everyone who applies will be enrolled in the program. Further information will be given once applications are received. Skills necessary to receive the lifeguard certifications are the ability to swim 300 yards, tread water and retrieve a brick from the pool floor.
Not only does this job opportunity give applicants an opportunity to enjoy the summer pool fun, but applicants are also able to serve the residents of their community in a big way.
Not looking for a summer job, but still want to gain experience and serve the community? The Department of Parks and Youth Services also offers internships for both high school and college students too!
