Campers and volunteers needed

. August 10, 2012.

During the school year, most kids can rely on at least one cafeteria meal a day. Yet, in the summer many children from needy families often go hungry. Since 2002, Feed Lucas County Children (FLCC) is fighting the child hunger battle in our area. During the summer, free hot meals will be served 5 days a week at  75 locations throughout the county. This year the FLCC will also be offering a summer camp at no cost. Held at The Knight Academy, 110 Arco Drive, the camp will feature activities related to outdoor education, health and wellness recreation, and food and nutrition. In addition to playing sports, campers will have the opportunity to grow their own food and eat it too! FLCC is always looking for volunteers to assist with its lunch programs, as well as its summer camp. For more information on how to get your child involved in these programs or to volunteer, call 419-720-1106 or visit www.feedlucaschildren.org.
